Aida, anyone? Here are some parts….

And I apologise in advance for the slightly funky new sounds of the audio.  I’m using a new Sibelius software package and haven’t had the time to sort through the sounds yet.  What can I say?  Get over it. 😉

First, here are all 3 parts together:
Aida chorus – All 3 Parts

Aida chorus - All 3 parts, Page 2
Aida chorus - All 3 parts, Page 3
Aida chorus - All 3 parts, Page 4

Now for some individdle parts!  First, here’s the Soprano:

. . .Und denn der alti. . .

Aida chorus – Alto Audio

. . .e l’ultimo ma non meno, i pazzi baritoni!

No idea why the Baritones came out so gray.  Sorry about that.
Have fun!

  1. Hi Jane,

Yes, it was lovely to see you! You seemed to fit in immediately, and had just the right attitude – work hard at it but have great fun doing it!!!

Just wanted to warn you, in case you hadn’t realised, that the classes are every two weeks, not every week, so the next one will be on Thursday 26th…

However, Angela Spencer’s ‘Larks’ a capella singing group will be on Tuesday at 9.15 in Christ Church Hall for an hour. Several of the LVWs from last night will be there, so you’ll know some of us! And I’m sure you’ll know others – it’s a lovely warm group, and not as intellectually or musically challenging as last night!!! Would be lovely to see you there – again, happy to collect, just give me a ring or email: jems@sussex.ac.uk

  2. Hi Carol and Paul.
Thanks ,I really enjoyed last night’s singing.
    What a treat!
I’ve listened to Aida on ‘youtube’ but need to work on my Italian!
I hope to come to the next one.

  3. Oh okay, So you are looking to have around 24 people attending long term. I thought we were looking for around 16. Not sure I agree everyone would attend every week and I think one could regulate that. If the repetoire remains the same then additional work outside of the session should not increase. In some ways weekly sessions could help remunerate all the extra work P ans C do. Having lived with a music te
acher for over 20 years I am oh so aware of how much planning is involved in preparing for music lessons.

All a question of how you look at it. Maybe we should have a discussion as group as to what we want and set some objectives.

  4. Thanks for your concern, Richard! Much appreciated! However, my main reason for wanting a few more people over and above the core group is because I feel that P and C deserve more than the £100 per session we currently give them. At present that works out at £25 per hour per person – half the rate they would normally charge for an individual session. But what we don’t see is the number of hours of work and thought they put into the classes in between sessions – adapting scores, photocopying, rearranging folders, drawing up exercises, posting scores and music on the blog and even welcoming anyone who wishes to go along for an individual ‘confidence booster/problem solver’ session at their home.

And the trouble with holding the classes weekly is that, as we all love them so much, we are quite likely to all want to go every week!!!!! I know I would….

See you at Larks tomorrow… Jx

  6. Well….

Say we have 24 members and 16 want to attend on alternate weeks and 8 want to attend every week that gives us 16 each week.

I know life doesnt work like that but you get the idea.

One advantage may be if the bass section attended each week the groups would be more balanced vocally.

Other advantage could be the groups could be split in a number of ways, repertoire, ability, commitment, and so on.

The detail of how it all works could be worked on

Another thing I feel should be addressed is that knotty issue of fees.
Having a drop in and paying if you attend is all well and good but I have always felt it leaves all the risk with Jenny and none with the other members (me included). It really isn’t fair. How about we pay and sign up for a half a term at a time in advance.
Obviously dispensation for anyone who cannot manage that financially could be given or those who want to just try it out for a couple of sessions to see if they like it.

    Just a thought

  7. Hi guys,

Thanks that would be a real help.

Just thought of an obvious answer to the numbers issue in the group if you have the time. Run it every week. I reckon quite a few people may attend each week. Would leave possibilities for a number of options.

    Just a thought.

  8. Would it be possible to have an mp3 file on the website for those pieces that have difficult pronuciations in the lyrics. Maybe a file that has the part spoken so that when we practice we get that bit right.

    Thanks

    • Hi Richard,
Yeah, I just mentioned this to Carol yesterday and I think she’s going to take it on. If not, I’ll do it but we’ll get it up there. Thanks for mentioning it.

    • Many thanks, Sheila. You’re an inspiration to us. We will certainly keep trying to get the balance right. It’s lovely that more people are discovering our little group but it does present problems and if we can’t resolve them we’ll just have to resolve to keep it a manageable size.

  10. dear Paul & Carol thank you for those e mails, the first one I am copletely in agreement with.Last time was a bit chaotic as you had to try and define differebt peoples level of musicality, amid a background of chatter, which was hard for every one.
I am totally in agreement with the other issues, e.g. break time limitation, tring to leave space for both of you to have a little break, and maybe moe of us taking up the offer of some one to one help and advice,I am still not sure whether I have chosen the correct group. At least I kow I am not a baritone so that is something!!!
Re-jigging the seating could e hepful, we may have to have one or two experiments
I am so glad you have opened this discussion as I found myself very confused (nothinh new there) but did not kow how it could be resolved. You both must have been exhausted afterwards.
But up and ‘at ’em, if at first we don’t succeed try try AGAIN.
    Lots fo love Sheila.

    • Yup, you’re right and we’re thinking hard about that. The fact is, it’s much harder to get men to these things than woman. That being said, maybe we just need to double our efforts. And not encourage any more women! 🙂
